Day 1: Revolutionary Landmarks and Harbor Heritage

Trace Boston's central role in the American Revolution, following the Freedom Trail from Boston Common through the historic heart of the city before turning toward the waterfront, maritime history, and the atmospheric streets of the North End.

Morning

Begin at Boston Public Garden and Boston Common, two of the city's signature green spaces, before following the first section of the Freedom Trail toward Faneuil Hall.

Make brief stops along the way at the Massachusetts State House, whose gilded dome and prominent hilltop setting make it one of Boston's most recognizable landmarks, and Granary Burying Ground, the final resting place of prominent historical figures including Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock.

Continue past the King's Chapel area and Old South Meeting House, where colonists gathered before the Boston Tea Party, then follow the trail to the Old State House and the Boston Massacre Site, important landmarks in the growing conflict between Britain and the colonies.

Finish at Faneuil Hall, the historic meeting hall known as the "Cradle of Liberty," where fiery Revolutionary-era speeches helped shape Boston's political culture.

Optional add-on: Browse the shops and food stalls at Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, a convenient place to pick up a snack or sample a Boston specialty.

Late Morning/Afternoon

Continue to the Old North Church, famous for the lantern signal associated with Paul Revere's midnight ride, and the Paul Revere House, his former home and the oldest surviving building in downtown Boston.

Optional add-on: Explore the New England Aquarium, where exhibits highlight marine life from New England waters and ecosystems around the world.

Stop for New England clam chowder and/or a lobster roll, two of Boston's signature foods, for lunch.

Then visit the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, where interactive exhibits and reconstructed historic vessels explore the protest that became one of the defining episodes leading to the American Revolution.

Evening

Optional add-on: Walk along the Boston Harborwalk as the waterfront takes on the softer light of late afternoon and evening. The route provides views across the harbor while connecting Boston's historic core with its modern waterfront.

End the day with dinner in the North End, Boston's historic Italian neighborhood, followed by a cannoli from one of its renowned pastry shops.
