Day 1: Gaudí’s Masterpieces and Montjuïc Views

Morning

Start the day with a classic Barcelona breakfast of churros and thick hot chocolate. Then get an early start at Park Güell, a hillside park designed by Gaudí that has mosaic-covered terraces and sweeping views over the city.

Continue to Sagrada Família, Gaudí’s iconic basilica. Its intricate façades and towering spires combine religious symbolism with highly detailed, nature-inspired design, while the interior is filled with colored light streaming through stained glass.

Afternoon

Pause for a photo op at Casa Milà (La Pedrera), known for its undulating stone façade and sculptural rooftop chimneys. From here, stroll along Passeig de Gràcia, which is lined with high-end shops and notable examples of Modernist architecture.

Evening

Head toward Montjuïcand take the Montjuïc Cable Car up the hill for panoramic views over the city and coastline. At the top, visit Montjuïc Castle, a historic fortress offering elevated views of the harbor and surrounding landscape.

Optional add-on: Explore the Fundació Joan Miró, which is dedicated to the works of the Catalan artist and features modern art exhibitions in a bright, contemporary space.

Head to Poble Sec, a neighborhood known for its relaxed atmosphere and tapas bars, for a tapas and pintxos (small tapas on bread) crawl. Include Carrer de Blai, a street known for its pintxos.

Day 2: Medieval Barcelona and the Waterfront

Morning

Afternoon

Evening

Head toward the waterfront for a sunset stroll along Barceloneta Beach as the light changes over the Mediterranean.

Return to El Born and visit Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar, a Gothic church known for its soaring interior and connection to the city’s maritime history.

For dinner, pair a glass of cava with local specialties such as:

  • pa amb tomàquet/pan con tomate (bread rubbed with garlic, tomato, olive oil, and salt)
  • croquetas (crispy fritters, often filled with ham and a creamy sauce)
  • patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce and aioli)
  • esqueixada de bacallà (salt cod salad with tomato, onion, olive oil)
